Is Reiki for Everyone?

Reiki is generally safe for most people, including children, adults, and the elderly. It is non-invasive, and since it doesn’t involve medication, there’s little to no risk of side effects. However, because it works on both physical and emotional levels, it may bring up unresolved emotions, which can be challenging for some. Practitioners are typically trained to help people navigate these feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

It is also important to note that Reiki is not a substitute for professional medical care. It is often used alongside conventional treatments, like surgery or medication, to enhance healing and provide emotional support.

What is Reiki Healing

Reiki is a form of alternative healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word “Reiki” comes from two Japanese words: “Rei” meaning “universal” or “spiritual,” and “Ki” meaning “life force energy.” So, Reiki is often described as “universal life force energy.”  At the heart of Reiki is the belief in universal life energy (referred to as “ki” in Japanese, “chi” in Chinese, or “prana” in Sanskrit). This energy is thought to flow through all living beings, and when it is in balance, a person experiences good health, emotional stability, and spiritual well-being.

The practice is based on the belief that a person’s energy flow can become blocked or imbalanced, which may lead to illness or emotional distress. Reiki aims to balance and restore the energy flow in the body, helping to activate the body’s natural healing processes.
